Adding a Watermark is one of the best ways to brand your images, or protect photos that you have uploaded to Pixieset. You can create a Text Watermark or upload an Image Watermark which can be applied to the images in your Galleries.
Note: Using the Watermark feature only applies the Watermark to the display versions of your images by default. We will not apply the Watermark to the Original version of your image, which will be used as the image we submit to the Lab for prints ordered through your Store.
Creating a Text Watermark:
To create a Text Watermark, go to the Client Gallery Dashboard > Settings > Watermark. Here you can create a Text Watermark, or upload an image to use as your Watermark.
Adding a Text Watermark:
A Text Watermark can be created through Pixieset by typing in custom text, and adjusting the settings to ensure it will reflect how you want it to look on your images.
To create a Text Watermark, click on Add Watermark > Text Watermark, and enter the text that you'd like to use (don’t worry, you can change this later if you need to!). Once you're ready, click Create.
In the Edit Watermark window, you will be able edit the text, change the font, color, scale, opacity, and position of the watermark to ensure it will appear exactly how you want it to.
You can preview the changes you have made on the preview image to the right of the settings. You can toggle between the landscape and the portrait view to see how the watermark will look on different image orientations.
Adding an Image Watermark:
If you have a custom Watermark or Logo that you’d like to use, uploading an Image Watermark is the way to go!
To add an Image Watermark, click on Upload Image Watermark and then upload the file you wish to use. We recommend uploading a PNG file with a transparent background and a minimum width of 1600px.
Once you've uploaded your watermark file, you can now customize it with the similar options as the Text Watermark (scale, opacity, position, etc.)
Remember to Save your changes once you are satisfied with how the Watermark will look.
Applying the Watermark
Now that you've created your Watermarks in Pixieset, the next step is to apply the watermark to your images!
Applying the Watermark when creating a new Collection:
There are multiple places where you can select which Watermark to apply to images. When you create a new Collection of images, you will be able to select which Watermark you'd like to have applied.
Note: If you have created a Collection Default Setting for your Account, your Watermark Setting will use the default you have set under the Collection Default.
Applying the Watermark when uploading photos:
When you upload your images, you will see a drop-down menu which shows you which of your Watermarks will be applied. You can change the watermark applied for this batch of upload, or No Watermark, if you wish.
Applying the Watermark to existing images in a Collection:
You can also apply a new watermark, or change the watermark applied to existing images in the Gallery. To do this, go to the Collection > Photos, select one or more images you’d like to make this change to, and select the Watermark option under the More drop down menu.
Select the new Watermark (or No Watermark to remove a watermark) you’d like to apply to these photos.
Note: it will take some time for these photos will be reprocessed with the new Watermark, these photos will be unavailable to view in the Gallery during this time.
You can also choose to Apply to all photos in this collection. This will apply the selected Watermark to all photos in each of the Sets in the Collection.
What happens when I Order Prints via Lab Fulfillment?
If you use our Watermark feature, any Pixieset Store Orders being fulfilled by our partner Labs will not have your Watermark. When an Order is placed for Prints from a Watermarked image, we send in the Original image file with no Watermark
to the Lab.
Will my Watermark show up on Downloaded Images?
If you are delivering Digital Downloads (via Collection Download), or selling Digital Downloads (via Store), the Watermark will not be applied to the downloaded files.
The only exception may be with the Web Size Downloads (640px, 1024px and 2048px), since you can choose whether you want the Watermark to be applied to these files.
To change this option, go to the Settings
page in your Client Gallery Dashboard
, and click on Advanced options
> Apply Watermark to Web Size Downloads
. You can check or uncheck this option here.
Important note: making the change to this Setting will not affect photos that are already uploaded. If you would like this update to be applied to existing images in a collection, you need to re-process the images in the Collection following the steps above.
