When creating or editing a quote, you can apply a discount or add tax (i.e. sales tax, GST, VAT, etc.). This article will outline both of these options and the various settings available.
On this page:
Adding a Discount to your Quote
When creating or editing a specific quote from your Quotes page, you can add a discount by selecting Add discount located directly under the subtotal.
Within the Add Discount pop-up, you can select the Type of discount you wish to apply (Amount off or Percent off) and then manually enter the Amount.
Note: Only one discount can be added, which will be applied to all of the items within the quote.
Once the discount type has been selected and the amount has been entered, click the Apply button in the bottom right-hand corner of the pop-up and the discount will immediately be applied to the quote’s subtotal.
To make any changes, simply click directly on the Discount area within the quote. From there, you will have the option to either edit or delete the discount.
Adding Tax to your Quote
Depending on your local tax requirements, you may need to apply tax on items included within your quotes. If you have questions about collecting taxes, you should consult with a local tax advisor as Pixieset does not provide advice regarding requirements applicable to your business.
To apply tax to the quote, select the Add tax green text located beneath the Discount area.
From within the Add Tax pop-up, you can enter the Tax Name (e.g. Sales Tax, GST, VAT, etc.) and Rate (%) along with the option to add your Tax ID.
Note: You can apply up to two different taxes to a quote, though they will have to be added one at a time.
Once you've filled in the tax information, click the Apply button in the bottom right-hand corner of the pop-up and the tax will immediately be applied to the quote’s subtotal (minus any applicable discount).
To make any changes, click directly on the Tax area within the quote. From there, you will have the option to either edit or delete the tax.
Marking a specific item as non-taxable
If your quote contains an item that is non-taxable, simply hover over the item and click the ••• button to the right. From there, you can select the % Mark non-taxable option and the quote’s total will adjust accordingly.
