A dropdown menu (or “drop-down”) is a great way to keep similar pages organized in your website’s navigation. For example, you may like to create a dropdown menu called “Portfolio” with subpages for each type of photography you do (e.g. portrait, commercial, etc.). This article will guide you through setting up a dropdown folder for your website.

Types of dropdown menus
In Pixieset Website, you can create a dropdown menu by setting up any of your pages as subpages under a folder or a parent page. Both work similarly by revealing a dropdown menu of subpages when visitors hover over it in your site’s navigation menu. There is only one difference:
- A folder is not a page itself, so it only reveals a dropdown menu of subpages when visitors hover over it. Clicking on the name of the folder does not direct the visitor to any page of its own.
- A parent page is a page itself, so it contains content like any other page of your site. Visitors can hover over a parent page to reveal a dropdown menu of subpages, or they can click directly on the name of the parent page to view the page itself.
Creating a dropdown menu
To add a dropdown menu to your website:
- In your website builder, click +Add Page and create a folder or page. (Skip this step if you already have a page you’d like to use as the parent page).
- Drag the pages you’d like to be in your dropdown menu directly under the folder or parent page.
- Click ••• > Subpage for each page to add them to the dropdown menu.
Changing the dropdown menu icon
You can customize the icon style for the dropdown menus on your site:
- Hover over your site header and click Edit Site Header.
- Under Dropdown Menu Icon, choose an icon style.
