Folders allow you to consolidate collections from events or projects and share them together with one convenient link. This way, your clients can access and view their galleries in one organized space.

What can I use folders for?
If you work with repeat clients or do high volume photography, folders are a powerful tool for staying organized and sharing everything in one place. Here are some ideas on how to use folders:
- Photography with returning clients: Organize a client’s collections into respective folders so they have a single link to view all their past sessions. The next time the client books you, add the new collection to their folder so they can easily pick up where they left off.
- Product photography: Consolidate a repeat client’s collections into a folder and share it with them, so they have one place to review all their past campaigns, product shoots, or promotions.
- School or corporate photography: Add collections for different classes or departments into a folder. Students and employees can quickly navigate to their specific collection to find themselves.
- Event photography (sports, festivals, conferences): Organize collections by day, location, or team/artist and add them to one folder to help participants find the exact moment they are looking.
Setting up a folder
Set up a new folder for a client from your Collections page:
- Click ▼ next to New Collection and select New Folder.
- Give your folder a name and click Create Folder. You can also optionally add a folder password or event date during this step.
- Select collections and drag them into your new folder. You can also create new collections within the folder itself.
- To share the folder with a client, click ⋮ > Share.
Bulk creating collections
Bulk creating collections is an efficient way to manage busy seasons or large projects. Pixieset lets you create multiple collections at once inside a folder, streamlining setup and keeping your delivery process on track.
You can bulk create collections in Pixieset in two ways: uploading desktop folders with photos or using a CSV file.
- Uploading desktop folders: This is best when your photos are ready. Each folder becomes its own collection, letting you upload photos to multiple collections at once.
- Using a CSV file: This is ideal when preparing in advance. This method creates empty, pre-named collections without photos, helping you get organized ahead of upcoming sessions or events.
To bulk create or upload:
- Click ▼ next to New Collection and select New Folder, or open an existing folder.
- Click Bulk Create.
- Select Create via folder upload or Create via CSV.

Folder password
You can add a layer of privacy to any folder by setting a global folder password. Visitors will be required to enter the password before they can view the folder and the collections. For example, this is useful for repeat clients that’d like their collections to be accessible in one place but still private.
Note: When you set a global folder password, all collections in that folder will use that password.
If you did not set up a password during folder creation, you can add it afterwards:
- View the folder and click More > Folder settings.
- Toggle on Global Folder Password. This will generate a strong, randomized password for the folder and the collections within.
- Click Save.
Client side experience
When you share a folder, your client will see the published collections organized for them to view and they can click on any to browse the photos within. If the folder is protected with a global folder password, your client will need to enter the password first before they can view any collections. They will only need to do this once per browser session.
Any updates to the folder (e.g. adding new collections) will reflect immediately on your client’s side.
Exporting folder information
An export allows you to view collection information, such as passwords, download PINs, client details, and links in one place without needing to open each gallery. This helps streamline your workflow, especially for large or recurring projects.
Note: The export includes folder details only. It does not contain any photos or videos.
To obtain a CSV export of your folder information:
- In Collections, select the folder.
- Click Export in the top right corner.
Your CSV will list details for the collections within the folder, organized into the following columns:
- Collection Name
- First Name
- Last Name
- Download PIN
- Collection Password
- Client Private Password
- Folder Password
- Collection URL
