In Store, you can create gift cards that can be used for orders placed by your clients. Once created, the gift card’s balance can be used like any other payment method and will automatically go toward your client’s order at checkout. Any leftover balance remaining in an active gift card can be used for future orders. If you offer print credits as part of your booking packages, gift cards are a great solution!

Creating and Sharing a Gift Card
To create a gift card:
- Go to Store > Coupons > Gift Cards and click +Add Gift Card.
- Give your gift card a name, the stored amount, and optionally an expiry date. Then, click Save.

What will the client see?
To redeem a gift card, clients can apply it to their order during checkout! Once applied, the balance stored will automatically adjust the order total to account for the discount.
To use a gift card at checkout, simply click Apply Gift Card, enter the discount code, and click Apply:
Discounts from gift cards come out of the order’s profit. If your client uses a gift card or coupon that brings the order total below the lab's Cost of Goods Sold (e.g. The printing and shipping costs), your card on file will be charged to cover the difference in cost.
Note: Any balance owed is charged immediately to avoid any delays and ensure the lab begins processing the order as soon as possible. You can learn more about this here.
Reviewing Gift Card Balance and Activity
You can see the activity and remaining funds for any gift card in Store Dashboard > Coupons > Gift Cards. While viewing the gift card, click on the number listed in the Uses column (or ••• > View Activity) to see the full usage details.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why does Pixieset require a credit card on file before a gift card can be created?
A valid credit card is required in order to use gift cards and coupons. This is for instances where a client discounts their order below the actual cost of the order (e.g. the printing and shipping costs). In these cases, the system will settle the amount by charging your credit card on file.
Does a gift card discount come out of my profit?
Yes, any discounts you offer through the use of a gift card will come out of the profit for the order. When an order is submitted, the lab’s cost of goods (printing and shipping fees) is deducted from the total amount your client paid at checkout, after their discount has been applied. Any remaining amount is sent to you directly.
If your client uses their gift card to bring the amount of their payment total at checkout below the actual cost of the order, then the difference in cost would be charged to your credit card on file. The system will always deduct as much of the cost from your client's payment as possible first, then settle any remaining amount to the credit card on file.
Can I sell gift cards in my store?
If you’d like to sell gift cards through your Store, you can do so by adding a Self-Fulfillment Product on your price sheet. Once added, clients can purchase it from your Store:
When you receive an order for a gift card, you can then manually create it for your client on the Gift Cards page (Store > Coupons > Gift Card), and share it with them afterward.
You can learn more about creating self-fulfilled products here.
What do I do if my client forgot to enter their gift card?
If a discount code wasn’t applied at checkout, you can issue your client a partial refund for the amount of the gift card from your payment processor (i.e. Stripe or PayPal). You can find further details on this process here.
