Sorting photos helps you control how images appear in your Client Gallery collection. You can sort the entire collection using a preset option or manually arrange photos within a set.

How photo sorting works
After your photos finish uploading, Pixieset sorts them by filename from A–Z by default. You can choose another sorting option for the entire collection or manually arrange individual photos and groups of photos within a set.
The available sorting options are:
- Date uploaded: New to Old or Old to New
- Date taken: New to Old or Old to New
- Filename: A–Z or Z–A
- Random
Note: In rare cases, the client-facing collection may display a small number of photos in a slightly different order than your dashboard. This is to maintain a balanced grid layout, and depends on photo dimensions and the viewer's screen size.
Sorting all photos at once
You can apply one sorting option to all photos in a collection:
- In Collections, open the collection.
- In the top right, click the Sort icon.
- Select your preferred sorting option from the dropdown menu.
Creating a custom photo order
You can move one photo or any number of selected photos using a same drag-and-drop action. When you move multiple photos, they remain grouped together and can be placed anywhere in the set.
To manually sort photos in a collection:
- In Collections, open the collection.
- Select the photo or photos you want to move.
- Click and hold a selected thumbnail.
- Drag the photo or group to the desired position within the set.
Tip: You can also click and drag your cursor over the photo thumbnails to bulk select them.
