our client’s collection is designed to make your client’s download process effortless from start to finish. From full gallery downloads to single images, videos, and digital orders, the process is built to be straightforward and easy to follow. This guide will go over how downloads work from a client’s perspective, so you can feel confident in the experience you provide.

Downloading a full gallery

If your clients want all their photos at once, the full gallery download option makes it simple. To download the full collection:

  1. In the top right, click the Download icon.
  2. Enter an email address and download PIN (if applicable).
  3. Click Next.
  4. Confirm the sets, download size, and destination.
  5. Click Start Download.

The gallery download will begin processing immediately. Your client can leave their browser window open or leave and be notified by email once their photos are ready. Once the gallery download is ready, your client will receive a ZIP file containing their photos.

Downloading individual photos

For moments when clients only need one or a few images, they can download individual photos right from the collection.

To download an individual photo:

  1. Hover over the photo and click the Download icon.
  2. Enter an email address and download PIN (if applicable).
  3. Click Sign in.
  4. Confirm the download size and destination.
  5. Click Start Download.

Once your client has successfully downloaded a photo, they can download additional images without re-entering their email address or download PIN during the same browser session.

Note: If you set a single photo download limit, your client will see the remaining number of photos they are able to download after entering their email address and PIN.

Downloading videos

When a collection includes video, clients can download each clip individually. This process follows the familiar, easy-to-navigate flow of individual photo downloads.

To download a video:

  1. Hover over the video.
  2. Click the Download icon.
  3. Enter an email address and download PIN (if applicable).
  4. Click Sign in.

Videos are delivered in an MP4 format at the highest available resolution (up to 4K), based on your Pixieset subscription and the original uploaded file. The video download will save to the client’s default browser download folder on their device.

Digital download orders

If you sell digital downloads, clients can purchase them through their collection’s storefront. Digital files are delivered via email upon checkout.

To purchase a digital download:

  1. Hover over the photo and click Buy.
  2. In the Digital section, add the download product to your cart.
  3. Click the Cart icon to proceed to checkout.

Note: Clients can also bulk add digital downloads by clicking Print Store and selecting the digital download product.

After purchasing a digital download:

  • The client receives an order confirmation email immediately after purchase.
  • Once the downloads are ready, the client receives a second email with the download link. You will also receive a copy of this email.
  • The download link opens a webpage where the client can download a ZIP file containing their photos.
  • For security reasons, the download link expires after 7 days, but you can resend the files at any time.

Note: If you enabled Order Delay, digital downloads are temporarily held so you can review or edit the files before they are delivered.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What is the collection’s download PIN?

By default, each collection requires visitors enter a 4-digit PIN to download its photos and videos. You can view, change, or deactivate the PIN within the specific collection’s settings.

To view a collection’s Download PIN:

  1. In Collections, select the collection.
  2. Click Settings > Download.
  3. Locate the PIN under Download PIN.

Tip: When you send a collection to a client via an email invite, you have the option to include the Download PIN as part of the invite.

Why did my client receive a ZIP file?

When a client initiates a gallery download, Pixieset delivers the photos in a ZIP file to make the download faster and more reliable.

ZIP files bundle all photos into a single package without affecting image quality. Once the download is complete, clients can simply unzip the file to view their images.

Note: For very large collections, downloads may be split into multiple ZIP files to ensure all images are delivered without interruption.

How do I download as a Pixieset user?

As a Pixieset user, you can download photos from your collection in the same way your clients would. Before downloading, we recommend checking your collection settings to make sure your photos are available in their original resolution.
