Sharing work with your clients is easy with Pixieset’s beautifully designed client galleries. As with anything shared online, it is important to protect your images from unauthorized use. By taking some precautionary steps, you can help deter screenshots, control who can access your photos, and set clear expectations with your clients around image use.
Here are some of the ways to protect your photos, available on your Pixieset account no matter which plan you are on.

- Limit photo downloads with a secure PIN
- Set up a Terms of Service to ensure clear usage guidelines
Require a password to view the collection
Limiting access to the collection with a secure password is the easiest way to reduce unintended activity. This can act as an added layer of protection — on top of the collection’s direct link, the correct password is required to gain access.

Protect your images using a watermark
A well-placed, brand watermark can deter unauthorized sharing of your photos. With Pixieset’s built-in watermark tool, you can apply a watermark to the online display versions of your photos, with the option to also apply them to web-sized downloads. This is an effective way to encourage clients to download high resolution files rather than taking low quality screenshots.

Limit photo downloads with a secure PIN
Pixieset automatically sets a download PIN for collections with downloads toggled on. This can help if your images are publicly accessible but you want to ensure that only specific visitors have access to downloads. We always recommend keeping the download PIN in place for the protection of your work.

Set up a Terms of Service to ensure clear usage guidelines
A clear and concise Terms of Service can go a long way in protecting your work and setting expectations for visitors on how they can use your photos. Once set up, it will appear in all of your collections and mobile gallery apps. Depending on your business requirements, you may like to also include a specific clause about image use and sharing rights in a contract, which your client signs beforehand.
